Shoes in heaven

After a nice long nap this afternoon (woohoo!), C was in the kitchen quietly looking up at the fridge where her attendance chart hung that she brought home from Sunday School last week.

Finally she says, “Hey, why does God sell shoes in heaven?”

Huh?

The chart was filled with stickers of what it’s like to be two now…things like baseball bats and tricycles, Sippy cups and toothbrushes. And of course, a pair of sneakers.

Apparently all take home things from class must be things in heaven :)

I’m working on a post in my head on setting goals that I may be able to tie in with Nehemiah and count as a review. I’m gonna try real hard to have the energy to write that tonight. I had a nice nap today so it may happen.

The secret is out

Well it’s not much of a secret since I chose to tell many people and ask them to keep it a secret :) So if you are reading here and somehow don’t know that I am pregnant then where have you been? Yes, it’s true folks, I’m about 9 weeks along. I really wasn’t planning on outing myself for another few weeks but I’m really bad at not telling people. Everyone I meet up with anywhere always says, “so, when are you guys gonna have another one?” I’m not so great with the lying so I recently started telling people “Septemeber 30th, that’s when.” And then they have a funny reaction and it’s actually pretty amusing.

Anyway, I’ll also tell you that I feel horrible. And I can’t say I expected to feel horrible since I had a prize winning pregnancy with C. Apparently the second one is not so prize winning. Now I know what morning sickness is and I have one question: why don’t they call it all day sickness? Seriously. I figure that this should be one great baby who sleeps all the time once it comes out. C was the opposite of that so it only makes sense, right?

Yup, that’s what I thought.

There. No more secrets to bust out Shannon ;)

I can’t help myself

BAHAHAHAHAHA! Edit to actually spell my middle name correctly…seriously. I need sleep :)

I’ve been tagged by Shannon. I must do it, I must. C is still napping so I will.

Here are the Rules: Post the rules on your blog, and then give your answers. List one fact about yourself for each letter in your middle name. Each fact must begin with a letter from your middle name. If you do not have a middle name, use your maiden name(or create a middle name).Once you are tagged, update your blog with your middle name and your answers. At the end of your post, tag one person for each letter of your middle name. Leave them a comment on their blog telling them that they have been tagged, and that they need to come read your blog for details.

Let it first be known that I do not enjoy giving out my middle name so you should feel special.

P - Paranoid. I’m paranoid about lots of things. All the time. I’m trying to shake that.

A - Athletic…well I used to be. I miss those days sometimes :)

T - Tired. I’m tired all the time lately and can’t seem to sleep past 4:30 am. It’s getting annoying. Hey, maybe I should go to bed earlier and then get up for the day at 4:30 and get some things done… Nah.

R - Rules. I’m confused by the rules of this tag but I copied and pasted them anyway. I’m easily confused.

I - Impressed; that I made myself a salad for lunch. But I won’t mention I ate it with a side of dill pickle chips :)

C - Complete moron. I didn’t even spell my name right the first time I did this.

I - Idiot. For having to come back and add two more letters. Seriously. Who does that?

A - Awana - I’m an Awana games leader. Sparky leader to be precise. I love it. It’s fun.

There you have it. Consider yourself tagged!

What I’m trying to think about today

The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.  1Peter 4:7

His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3: 22,23

That is all, have a nice day :)

Compassion

So I think most uf us read Rocks in my Dryer. In case you don’t know it, Shannon from Rocks is currently in Uganda with a group of bloggers. They are being hosted by Compassion which is a group like World Vision that helps children in need get sponsors. I’m sure you all now about it. Anyway, Shannon got to meet the child that her family has been sponsoring. My recommendation is to go read her post first here and then go see the video here.

I dare you to try and not bawl your eyes out. Go read what all these people have seen there. It’s a real eye opener.

The cats, they are no longer so white

Well, it’s been quite a weekend in our household. I came down with some sort of strange virus thing that started out with a seemingly harmless sore throat and ended with me spending most of yesterday unable to get out of bed. I seem to be recovering nicely as the day goes by and feel like I may even be at normal capacity tomorrow. Which would be nice.

On Friday our pellet stove decided to stop working so yesterday morning Mike and his dad took the thing apart and tried to figure out how to fix it. I was pretty sure this would be ok as both father and son are pretty handy guys.

At one point in the morning (this was before I went back to bed for the afternoon) C and I were in the kitchen and I heard, “Oh no, turn off the fan!”

Yeah. Too late. One BIG poof of soot took over the house.

I don’t know if you’ve ever been anywhere that soot has been blown but let me tell you that this fine layer of soot settled EVERYWHERE. And since I was totally just trying to stand up until Mike could take over entertaining C I did not have the energy to even care let alone start cleaning it up. We all looked like chimney sweeps most of the day.

Anyway, they fixed the stove. That’s good. Saved about a $100 on a new motor for the thing. Hopefully It’s good for awhile longer.

After lunch C went to bed and so did I and Mike spent that two hours cleaning everything. He really is a good man. He mopped and dusted and wiped things down and took down the curtains to be washed. It was hard work I imagine :)

The white cats didn’t care that the furniture and floor were full of soot and went about lying around as usual so they are now grey cats. Rather ugly looking!

And then to top it off Mike said he would go get the groceries last night! Aw! So I made him a detailed list and off he went and did a great job buying the food. I think his motivation was that he actually wanted to eat today.

I really missed being in church today but I still wasn’t feeling like myself and no sense spreading possible germs either. I hear it was a rip-roarin good sermon from Revelation that I’ll have to listen to online when it’s up.

Well, there’s all you ever wanted to know about my weekend. Oh, besides the fact that after he came home from the grocery store last night Mike scrubbed the floors AGAIN because our socks were still turning black. He pretty much doesn’t have to do a thing for Valentines Day…he made my heart happy by doing the cleaning and the shopping :)

It might be time to re-evaluate the importance of food

I’m sure you all know how interesting conversations with a two year old can be. Even on the craziest days there is never a shortage of funny revelations from the mouth of the toddler here.

This afternoon I happened to mention that tomorrow was Tuesday and that E would be coming to play with her. To which she started gushing about how “exciting” that was and that E was her “best friend.”

The the conversation took an interesting twist.

C: E is my best friend. And then Daddy is my friend too.

(pause)

C: And then snacks.

Me: So it goes, E, Daddy, snacks and then Mommy?

C: No it goes E, Daddy, snacks, ME and theeeeeeeen Mommy.

(pause here…in which I foolishly thought she may change her mind)

C: I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE snacks. MMMMMMMM, MMMMMMMM!

Well at least I know my position :)
